What We Believe

We Believe . . .

The ScripturesWe believe that the Scriptures, Old and New Testaments, are the divinely inspired word of God and the final authority in matters of life and faith. The Holy Scriptures are to be interpreted responsibly under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

The Godhead:  We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Person and Work of Jesus Christ:   We believe in the fully divine and fully human person of Jesus Christ.  He is the only Son of God, conceived of the Holy Spirit, and born of the virgin Mary. He was without sin and went to the cross as an atoning sacrifice for the sins of all humankind.  He  died, was buried,  rose again on the third day, and ascended to Heaven where He sits at the right hand of God until the time of His second coming.

The Priesthood of all Believers:   We believe that all who earnestly seek God are competent to approach God directly.

The Church:   We believe that at its best, the Church is a model community of born-again believers baptized and living out its commitment to obediently follow Christ Jesus resurrected. The Church is a gathering place of worship, growth, and edification -  It is the visible ideal of living for Christ.  Witnessing for Christ is the ongoing   task of every Christian and of every church.

Autonomy and Interdependence:   The local church is autonomous and free from any state or denominational oversight or influence. However, the church                recognizes that the Holy Spirit is at work in other congregations and organized bodies and that great things can be done in God’s name through cooperation.

We Value:

          1.  A heart for God; for one another; and for those in our community.

          2.  "We" before "Me"

          3.  Stewardship

          4.  Ministries that impact those living in our community.

          5.  Innovation, excellence and risk-taking.
